E-mail: ginevra.peruginelli@ittig.cnr.itGinevra Peruginelli is Researcher at ITTIG-CNR. She has a degree in Law and a Ph.D in Telematics and Information Society at the University of Florence. She has also received her Master’s degree in Information Studies at the University of Northumbria, Newcastle. Since 2003 she is entitled to practice as a lawyer.
For ten years (starting in 2004) she has been adjunct professor of legal informatics at the Law Faculty of University of Perugia. In 2012 she was adjunct professor of legal informatics at the University of Florence, Faculty of Law. Furthermore, she carried out teaching in the area of accessing legal information and European documentation for postgraduates and public servants.
Since 2007, she is member of the editorial board of DoGi – Dottrina Giuridica, database of abstract of articles of legal periodicals.
She has been involved in several projects at European and national level such as the NiR (Norme in Rete – Legislation on the Net) portal, MINERVA (Ministerial Network for Valorising Activities in Digitisation), DALOS (Drafting Legislation with Ontology-based Support), CARE (Citizens Consular Assistance Regulation in Europe) and e-Codex (e-Justice Communication via Online Data Exchange). She has also worked in a research project promoted by the Publications Office of the EU concerning interoperability issues between the Eurovoc thesaurus and other European thesauri. In 2004 and in 2006 she won two CNR research fellowships as visiting scientist at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies of the University of London and the Centre de recherche en droit public at the Faculty of Law of the University of Montréal.
She is the editor in chief of the Journal of the Journal of Open Access to Law (JOAL) published by Cornell University, Faculty of Law. Since October 2013 she is member of the Free Access to Law Association (FALM) and since 2018 she became the Secretariat of the Steering Committee of the Association.
Since 2016, she is the Italian member of the Management Committee of the COST Action 15137 – European Network for Research Evaluation in the Social Sciences and the Humanities (ENRESSH).
Since 2019, she is a nominated member of the Scientific Committee of the Dipartimento Scienze Umane e Sociali Patrimonio Culturale of the CNR
Her main research areas involve: Global governance of science; European documentation; Open access to law; Techniques and methods for legal documentation and for the creation of legal information systems; User needs of legal information, Legal strategies for online legal information retrieval; Multilingual access to law; Cross lingual and cross collection retrieval systems. She has published 3 monographs and more than 50 articles, delivered conference papers on various issues including open access to law; assessment of legal research outputs; techniques and methods for legal documentation across Europe.
