It is a Journal mainly dealing with
legal informatics and computer law,
founded, in 1975 by the Institute of Legal Information Theory and
Techniques of the Italian National Research Council. From the beginning
until 1991 the review was published by Le Monnier (Florence) and from
1992 onwards appears twice a year by Edizioni scientifiche italiane
(Naples).
It is a scientific publication followed by numerous foreign
collaborators, so contributions are written not only in Italian but
also in the main European languages such as English, French, German,
Portuguese and Spanish.
The Journal is devoted to the study and critical analysis of problems
arising from the new information technologies applied to the legal
field; it also focuses its attention to legal issues deriving from the
development of information technology and telematics in modern
societies.
As to legal informatics, "Informatica e diritto" welcomes contributions
on automated legal documentation, information systems, automation of
Public Administration and law firms, artificial intelligence and
knowledge representation techniques applied to the law, legal experts
systems and offers a wide-range scenario of the major development
trends of the discipline in Italy and abroad.
As to computer law -- besides issues such as the privacy protection of
personal data processed by public and private databases -- the Journal
pays attention to more recent questions such as the legal protection of
software, contractual framework elaboration related to goods and
computer services and the regulation of information technology applied
to the public sector.
