SOQUIJ. The Quebec Legal Information Society
SOQUIJ. La SOciété QUébécoise d'Information Juridique
Il SOQUIJ (SOciété QUébécoise d'Information Juridique) è stato istituito con una legge entrata in vigore il 1º aprile del 1976 allo scopo di promuovere la ricerca e determinare uno sviluppo nel campo dell'informazione giuridica e della elaborazione dei dati giuridici migliorando la qualità di tale informazione e rendendola più agevolmente accessibile. Spetta inoltre al SOQUIJ d'elaborare una politica generale dell'informazione giuridica per il Quebec e di svolgere nel contempo una sua propria attività nel settore. Nell'articolo sono descritte la struttura organizzativa e le modalità di finanziamento della società e sono illustrate le principali attività da essa svolte nel campo della pubblicazione della giurisprudenza (Quebec Law Reports), della Mini-biblex (biblioteca giuridica su microschede) e del servizio DATUM per la ricerca elettronica delle informazioni giuridiche.
The SOQUIJ (SOciété QUébécoise d'Information Juridique) was established by a law passed on the 1st of April 1976, with the aim of promoting research and development in the field of legal information and of legal data processing by improving the quality of such data and by rendering it more easily accessible. It is also SOQUIJ's task to lay the foundations of a general political line on legal information in Quebec, while at the same time pursuing its own activities in the field. In the article the organization and finances of the society are described together with a brief report of the main activities which it has undertaken in the fields of jurisprudential publishing (Quebec Law Reports), of Mini-biblex (a microfilm legal data library), and of the DATUM project for the computerized legal data retrieval.
