What is LOIS The project aims at localizing an Italian WordNet for the legal domain into six different European languages. All legal WordNets will be cross linked according to the EuroWordNet model, in order to achieve cross lingual information retrieval capabilities. Such capabilities will be verified by producing two demonstrators and by integrating localized resources in the products and on-line services marketed by the commercial partners of the project. Demonstrators, which will be already available at month twelve, will be used for gathering consensus from potential customers (Public Administrations and Publisher), according to the strategy described in the business plan. The technical work on the legal domain will be carried on by six of the most qualified European centers on legal informatics and legal documentation. Two companies with high skills in cross-lingua information retrieval and web application development will be responsible for demonstrators, whereas the commercial publishers will take care of integration of the resources into their applications/services. The production process will be submitted to attentive quality control procedures (ISO 10006 an ISO-9001) by a specialized quality control company, whereas all marketing and exploitation actions will be driven by a business plan to be delivered already at month 6. |
